History of Casinos

It’s very difficult to say about the origin of casino. It is known that in 2300 BC, the official practice of gambling was recorded in China. But during this time, the stories of gaming entertainment are quite evident across France, England and Greece.

In 1638, the first known casino was made in Venice. It is known that in American history the casinos were often termed as saloons. Four major cities, namely, New Orleans, Chicago St. Louis, and San Francisco marked the influence of saloons. These saloons offered travelers a wide scope for entertainment, drinks, talking and along with these activities, gaming was also encouraged.

However, in the early 20th century, American government banned gambling. This was basically done by the social reformers of that time. Later on, in 1931 it was legalized and made legitimate in few parts of the USA like Las Vegas, Nevada and New Jersey. During this time, casinos were legalized in America and Atlantic City became the second largest city for gambling in 1978. Major centers for gambling in America include Tunica Resorts, Gulf Coast regions and Mississippi.
